The House Head speaks about an issue that will not go away. This will be the last time I will mention it on this blog. If nothing is resolve, do not blame me. It all started with a shirt posted on Facebook. It reads “Same Stuff, Different DJ”. The word stuff is a replacement for a bad word which I do not allow on my blog. Those words gave me pause. The creator of the shirt is not aware Chicago is a melting pot when it comes to House music. My thoughts were the wearer of the shirt has not been any other venues outside his “Comfort Zone”. The issue I have is why wearing this shirt? If you never have been to an area where they spin House other than old school, how can you make such a statement? The only answer is YOU HAVE NOT BEEN ANYWHERE!! You are not aware of what is new in House Music. How dare you wear that shirt! Burn it now!!!
Here is what I have notice. Southside DJs and Southside House Heads have a major problem with DJs and House Heads on the Northside. Every since I started H2S, this issue surface for time to time. It is time to get this out in the open once and for all. Southsiders feel threaten by any DJ on the Northside. These DJs are protective of their residencies, their core fans and their reputation. Little do they realize there are a number of Southside House Heads who are sick and tired of hearing the same tracks from every Southside DJ in the area. They have a valid point but they do not take any action. They could venture off to the Northside where every DJ is unique. They bring new tracks from their own creation or from other record labels. You will see a handful of Southsiders at venues like the Smartbar or Grandbar. Afterwards, they return back south listening and dancing to the same old tunes. If you are guilty, stop complaining.
When a Northside DJ and its followers enter in to Southside for a gig, it is not good. The total disrespect they have to endure. You would think they would be thrill to hear something new and fresh. This is not the case. The Northside DJ is given the 3rd degree. They are either booed, questioned about their knowledge of House or do not dance to what they are playing. These are not my words. I have spoken to several Northside DJs and their followers. They all said the same thing. They will not waste their time on the Southside. What a shame!
One more thing I would like to address. There is a lack of support from the Southside. Sure, I see the O.S.H.H. shirts but they are not on the Northside. I own 2 and wore it at Northside venues. Why are they not more? There are true House Heads on the Northside. Why are we being left out? What happen to One Love, One House? Explain? My site is fairly new but my blog has been out since this summer of 2011. Why are there not more Southsiders posting their comments on my blog? You cannot say it is not available. I post each and every blog on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.
5 Magazine is the biggest magazine for House Music. Why are they not more subscribers from the Southside? Their online version of the magazine has worldwide appeal. If you are seeking knowledge of different forms of House, 5 Magazine has it cover. Why they are not more Southside subscribers online? If I am wrong on all counts, I stand corrected. If I am correct, you should feel bad. You cannot claim to love House unless you support every form of House period. This House Head Has Spoken for the last time on this issue!!
